Quantitative Methods and Analysis Virtual Training: Training and Toolkit for Research in the Western Balkans

Institute for Strategic Dialogue

Summary

Between June 28 and July 12, 2021, the RESOLVE Network, in partnership with the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, completed a virtual research training in the Western Balkans. Quantitative Methods and Analysis Virtual Training: Training and Toolkit for Research focused on quantitative research methods and analysis for research on violent extremism. The three-day virtual training, staggered over three weeks, was created and led by Dr. Omi Hodwitz, member of the RESOLVE Research Advisory Council, and included interactive lectures, resource exchanges, facilitated discussions, and homework exercises using the Data Analysis ToolPak in Excel to provide hands-on experience analyzing data. RESOLVE trainings seek to provide individuals and organizations with resources and guidance on conceptualizing, understanding, and utilizing quantitative methods and analysis in research on violent extremism and are supplemented by RESOLVE's edited volume, Researching Violent Extremism Series, which provides individual researcher and practitioner perspectives and insights on understanding and conducting research on violent extremism.
